Kicking off 2010 by having a crack at an Essendon away jumper. It’s a curly task given that the club and the supporter base are so adamantly opposed to having a clash strip. I can fully understand why a heritage club like Essendon feels that an alternate jumper flies in the face of their proud tradition. But by the same token, if you're being made to wear a clash jumper then you may as well make it a good one rather than the half-hearted jumbo-stripe design currently being worn by the Bombers. I’ve gone for a simple thick stripe down the chest that’s broken up by the famous red diagonal sash. The grey panels break things up a bit and accentuate the technical construction of the current adidas jumper. A small Bomber logo appliqué appears in the scoop below the collar for added spice (I prefer having club logos small and centered below the neck as in the NFL rather than having them asymmetrically popped on the left breast as is the current trend). Essendon also have the strongest script logo of any AFL club (which isn't saying terribly much) so I thought I’d feature it on the rear just above the number. If you’re a Bomber fan let us know if you think this is on target.
