The best ever rugby league logos?

During the 80s the NSWRL was streets ahead of its rival codes when it came to the presentation of the game. My favourite rugby league logos come from this era. Bold, simple and strong, I love their ferociousness and no-frills earnestness.

These are some of my favourites... what are yours? (Thanks to Australian Rugby League Logos for the images).

Sure, these hand drawn designs aren't slick or kiddie friendly.

But then again, neither is this guy... A timeless classic from another gladiator sport.

These logos have charecter, something that doesn't always come through in today's tightly pruned digital designs.

A few honorable mentions: If you changed the font and rendered it up in Illustrator the original Brisbane Broncos logo could be a stunner. Much better than the current aloof, backward-facing horsie.

And the old Parra shield is perfectly balanced. I'm glad they've gone back to the future with their revamped retro.

Sure, there were a few dodgy logo efforts in the old NSWRL, but overall the designs had great impact and were very effectively used by the league.

What's your take on these classic league logos, and which of the current NRL logos do you rate?
